CDC engagement report
@CDCgov - 5.6M followers on X
Measured over 17 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on August 31, 2026.
Engagement
A typical post picks up 167 interactions against 5.6M followers, an engagement rate of 0.003%. Measured over 17 original posts, its engagement rate beats 29% of 3,774 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 58K times each, and 0.287% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 1.05% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.7 post a day over the last 30 days, with activity on roughly 50% of days. Most posts go out around 12:00 UTC, and Tuesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 17 posts sampled, 88% carry an image or video and 35% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 49K interactions, about 295x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size
CDC's engagement rate beats 29% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,774 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 10 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.
On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 26% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.
Where this sits in the catalog
At 0.003%, CDC sits above the 10th percentile of the 36,521 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.012%.

Posting timing
This account posts most often around 12:00 UTC, and Tuesday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

Today we filed a motion asking the First Circuit to expedite our appeal of the district court's order in the AAP lawsuit that left ACIP—the nation's vaccine advisory committee—without a quorum. AAP opposes our motion. I've been consistent from day one: I do not want to take vaccines away from anyone. Our policy changes preserved access and coverage. But the court's order has left ACIP unable to carry out its core responsibilities. As a result, the committee cannot issue new recommendations, review newly approved vaccines, or complete important work ahead of the fall flu season. A functioning ACIP is essential to ensuring that vaccine recommendations remain grounded in evidence and available to the families and providers who rely on them. Families, physicians, insurers, and public health programs deserve certainty—not paralysis. That's why we're asking for expedited review. Our appeal seeks to restore a functioning ACIP so the vaccine recommendation process can continue, and families, physicians, and public health programs have the guidance they need.

Tick-borne diseases are a growing public health threat. @CDCgov released a new MMWR on alpha-gal syndrome, a serious allergy to red meat and other mammal-derived products that can develop after certain tick bites. If you spend time outdoors, protect yourself from tick bites, check for ticks every day, and know the signs of tick-borne illnesses. Today, we honored Officer David Rose's extraordinary courage, service, and sacrifice by dedicating a memorial roadway and plaque in his memory, ensuring his legacy will continue to inspire all who enter the CDC campus. We also recognized the law enforcement officers, first responders, and public servants who ran toward danger that day, and we reaffirmed our gratitude for all who serve with courage, integrity, and selflessness. On behalf of President Trump, the Department of Health and Human Services, and a grateful nation, we honor Officer David Rose. We will never forget his service or his sacrifice.

- What is CDC's engagement rate on X?
- CDC (@CDCgov) has an engagement rate of 0.003%, based on the median interactions across 17 original posts from the last 30 days against 5,563,520 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
- Is that a good engagement rate?
- At 0.003%, CDC sits above the 10th percentile of the 36,521 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
- Does @CDCgov have real engagement?
- Its engagement rate beats 29% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,774 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
- When does @CDCgov post?
- Most posts go out around 12:00 UTC, and Tuesday is its busiest day, at roughly 0.7 posts per day across the measured window.
