Jembatan Merah Putih yang dibangun oleh KODIM 0625 dan YON TP Pangandaran, ambruk saat diresmikan, Minggu (30/8). Kepala Dinas Penerangan TNI Angkatan Darat (Kadispenad) Brigjen Donny Pramono mengatakan jembatan itu mengalami perubahan posisi. Kondisi tersebut, kata dia, terjadi setelah lebih dari 50 orang melintas secara bersamaan, melampaui kapasitas yang telah ditentukan, sehingga tali sling pada sisi kiri jembatan terlepas dari pengikat utama dan menyebabkan jembatan menjadi miring. "Sebagaimana diberitakan sejumlah media, kondisi tersebut disebut sebagai ambruknya jembatan. Untuk meluruskan informasi tersebut, kondisi yang terjadi bukan merupakan keruntuhan atau ambruknya keseluruhan struktur jembatan," kata Donny dalam keterangan tertulis, Senin (31/8).
