Lewat petang semalam saya meraikan kunjungan Presiden Xi Jinping bersama delegasi China ke Seri Perdana dalam majlis makan malam sempena lawatan negara ke Malaysia, dalam suasana persahabatan. Lawatan Negara yang pertama sejak 12 tahun lalu oleh Presiden Xi ini adalah simbolik dan lambang ikatan persahabatan sejati Malaysia-China yang telah terjalin sejak sekian lama, dan keakraban ini terus utuh dan diperkukuh atas sikap kepercayaan, hormat dan kejujuran. Di saat dunia menyaksikan perubahan landskap geopolitik dan beberapa pihak meninggalkan prinsip tanggungjawab kolektif, inisiatif global yang diketengahkan oleh China membuka ruang baharu untuk pembaharuan dan kerjasama. Saya ulangi rasa hormat dan penghargaan atas kepimpinan Presiden Xi yang lantang membicarakan soal prinsip perkongsian kemakmuran dan mengangkat nilai ketamadunan dan kemanusiaan sejagat. Prinsip dan pendirian Presiden Xi nyata berbeza dengan sikap segelintir negara yang mula meninggalkan prinsip perkongsian tanggungjawab, menghalakan keutamaan untuk mengasah perseteruan dan mempersenjatakan ekonomi. Dalam dunia yang kian mencabar, kita melihat China tampil sebagai rakan yang rasional, stabil dan berprinsip. Malaysia menghargai kestabilan ini dan akan terus menjadi sahabat, berpaksikan sejarah dan berwawasan masa depan. Pepatah Melayu menyebut, air dicincang tidak akan putus.
