Compared with accounts its own size

Cornell University's engagement rate beats 35% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (4,293 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 7 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 44% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.016%, Cornell University sits above the 25th percentile of the 41,569 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the below the median band, which runs 0.013% to 0.083%.

This account posts most often around 12:00 UTC, and Monday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

Researchers at Cornell have created an interactive map identifying 1.8 million individual trees in New York City, with a new approach that could optimize the placement of trees for cooling in cities around the world. In the study, researchers identify the types of trees using satellite imagery as well as on-the-ground datasets and 3D data collected with lidar, short for light detection and ranging. The approach was 82% accurate overall and higher for common types of New York City trees. It’s the first “wall-to-wall,” citywide map identifying trees in natural areas and other unsurveyed areas, which together constitute an estimated 65% of the city’s canopy and have not been accounted for on previous maps. The research team will use the map to determine which trees are best for cooling, and the data could inform a host of other planting decisions where the type of tree makes a difference, from reducing allergens to managing invasive pests. “Every single one of you is here, because we saw something special in you that meant you belonged at Cornell,” President Michael I. Kotlikoff told the nearly 4,300 first-year and transfer students who, with their families, gathered August 18 at Schoellkopf Field for New Student Convocation. “So if at some point in the months ahead, when you’re wrestling with a problem set or a paper, and you start to wonder if maybe somebody in Admissions made a mistake – I can tell you right now, they did not,” Kotlikoff said. “You are a Cornellian. And this is where you belong.” Read more: https://t.co/4V0pAqBMKY

What is Cornell University's engagement rate on X?
Cornell University (@Cornell) has an engagement rate of 0.016%, based on the median interactions across 32 original posts from the last 30 days against 403,869 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.016%, Cornell University sits above the 25th percentile of the 41,569 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
Does @Cornell have real engagement?
Its engagement rate beats 35% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (4,293 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
When does @Cornell post?
Most posts go out around 12:00 UTC, and Monday is its busiest day, at roughly 1.77 posts per day across the measured window.
