A Malu teve o visto de estudante dos Estados Unidos negado duas vezes. Com o intercâmbio pronto para começar em Denver, uma cidade que ela escolheu, para morar com uma família que foi escolhida de acordo com o perfil dela, no dia 24 de agosto. Não fazia sentido essa negativa, para quem tinha o visto de turista válido. Na segunda vez, perdi o chão. Confiava totalmente que seria aprovado. Quando a funcionária do Consulado disse NÃO, eu tentei argumentar e ela foi totalmente seca dizendo que "as razões estão nesse papel branco" (com uma explicação padrão, que em nada servia para o caso da Malu!), eu saí do guichê anestesiado, sentei num muro branco e comecei a chorar. Com a Malu ali... Porque a Malu passou a sonhar com esse intercâmbio porque foi convencida por mim e pela Fabiana. Gerar esse tipo de decepção para ela era algo que eu nunca me perdoaria. Mas as 24 horas seguintes mostraram a filha maravilhosa e a esposa espetacular que eu tenho. A Malu segurou a onda porque viu que eu estava pior do que ela. Vocês têm noção do que é isso para uma jovem de 17 anos que via seu sonho ruir? Passado o susto, sentamos e vimos uma opção: tentar um 3⁰ visto em Brasília. Mas eu só toparia se Malu e Fabiana estivessem prontas para uma eventual frustração. Antes, as duas realizaram a festa de Até Logo, mesmo sem saber se a Malu iria. E foi um sucesso. Uma noite especial com pessoas que amam a Malu de verdade. E lá foram elas para Brasília, num drama de 15 dias, com elas lidando com uma ansiedade monstruosa, mas mostrando a força de duas gigantescas mulheres. Foto, entrevista, formulários, e-mails, argumentação... Até que o Visto F da Malu estava nas nossas mãos na sexta-feira. Vitória das duas, pois eu já estava abatido. E no fim, tudo certo! Corremos, organizamos uma viagem para Denver de forma expressa, Malu viajou na noite de sábado, neste domingo já está com a Pamela, sua Host Mother, e amanhã começa na escola! Serão 10 meses de aprendizado, mas que começaram nesse show de resiliência delas!
