I have heart surgery coming up next week and now understand why I’ve been so physically exhausted and out-of-sorts these past few months. The docs tell me my condition is called “atrial functional tricuspid regurgitation” and that it is “mainly due to long standing atrial fibrillation… The tricuspid valve is leaking severely, causing a back pressure on all the internal organs and a high jugular venous pressure.” The procedure aims to get this old body back on the road again quickly and efficiently. It is VERY LOW RISK but of course I’m grateful for any good wishes sent my way. I’m in the midst of writing a new book, the best work I’ve ever done, and I’m not going to let this stop me! Stuff just keeps on getting older, very much including me. But I’m pleased to report that my heart surgery last month appears to have been a success. I don’t take anything for granted but I’m back at my desk completing the writing of my next book which I’m due to deliver to my publishers at end October. Meanwhile, life goes on! I enjoy meeting and interacting with those who find my work useful. Before the serious problems with my heart had been diagnosed I had made commitments to host three tours in 2027 – to Egypt in March 2027, to Turkey in May 2027 and to Peru and Bolivia in August 2027. Because I must be mindful of my health challenges, I will now be joining each tour for five days during which I will offer two exclusive multi-media presentations and make myself fully-available for Q&A sessions, for individual face-to-face conversations with guests, for signing books and for photographs. Gratitude to the universe and to all friends everywhere for so many kind wishes. My cardiac surgery went well -- better than expected. I'll update properly next week. Meanwhile, I'm home, surrounded by love, am enjoying a great reawakening of energy and intend to dive into writing Chapter 21 of my new book tomorrow. Happy Summer Solstice!

As all who were with me know, I fell seriously ill in Egypt in February with a horrible lung infection that still lingers. I'm glad I was able to fulfill all my commitments, despite the health challenges, but this trip really brought me face-to-face with my own mortality! Thank you for being there with me, and for your love and understanding. I'll never forget.

As all who visit this page have surely heard, the late great Erich von Daniken passed away on 10th January at the handsome old age of 90. I didn't know him well enough to call him a friend, more of an acquaintance who I met, chatted with and sometimes debated at conferences. Nearly 11 years have passed since then, and Erich has gone, but the questions he raised still remain. Reviled by the mainstream, his greatest gift to his readers -- very much including myself -- was to encourage an open-minded, free-spirited approach to the mysteries of the past. You were a great spirit, Erich, and you never bowed down or buckled to the pressure and hate that archaeologists and their friends in the media sent your way. Wishing you joy on your next great adventure.

Encouraged as I write today to see that it's had a good number of views: https://t.co/Bec8caT7a1 Although there is much more in retrospect that I wish I'd said, this dialogue with Steven is one of the most meaningful I've had in years of such appearances -- but I'm not responsible for the title! Although we do talk about Antarctica, its place in the overall conversation is small and there's much else that matters to me much more. Meanwhile, deep gratitude to all who have sent me good wishes for my surgery later this week which looms very close. I'm living and breathing my new book right now and I just last night finished writing Chapter 20, but this is all such an upheaval that it would be pointless to dive into Chapter 21 until after the procedure. When I'm writing I usually have quite a relentless work ethic but I think I'll take the rest of today off, chill with Santha and see if we can find a good movie to watch.

Attn @FlintDibble : (1) you have been boasting and preening for nearly two years that you "won" your debate on the JRE with me and that your self-proclaimed brilliant performance "tanked" my audience. Usually, it is the loser of a debate, not the winner, who asks for a second round. I must therefore assume that your petulant demands to go "face to face" with me again mean you’ve known all along that you failed yourself and embarrassed your profession very badly when you sat down with me for JRE 2136 and that everything you've said on the matter since then is simply the smelly gas of a deeply insecure man. (2) In your pinned post of March 10th 2026 you accuse me of cowardice and lack of integrity and claim that I "rejected two different offers to go face to face” with you "on major, international media outlets". From whence came the “two different offers” for me to go face to face with you in a second debate? When and where were these “offers” made? And in what way, where, did I reject these offers? (3) For the avoidance of future doubt let me be clear. I am content for JRE 2136, the debate that you claim you won, to stand as the permanent record of what passed between us and to continue to allow those who are still interested to make up their own minds on the matter. I see no point in sitting down with you again to accommodate your neediness.

I have chosen to publish Scott Creighton's documentary on my Youtube channel, because I find the case he makes here persuasive with important new evidence that has not been addressed in the public debates thus far. Others are welcome to disagree and no comments will be deleted. Comments that consist of lazy and insulting outright rejections of Scott's case without giving any solid reasoning for the rejection are predictable: this is how archaeology's "debunking lobby" works. However, what we're really looking for from those who wish to "debunk" this video are comments, unpolluted by insults, slurs and smears, that offer fair, reasoned and constructive criticism of Scott's thesis.
