The preparations for this year's historic Mashujaa Day celebrations that will be co-hosted by Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi and Uasin Gishu counties are in top gear. This morning, I visited Kamariny Stadium in Keiyo North Sub-County, where I kicked off an infrastructure inspection tour of the three counties to gauge the preparedness to host the national celebrations. The construction of the Kamariny stadium, which will host sporting events in the run-up to the Mashujaa Day celebrations, is more than halfway done. Roads, energy, water and other projects are also underway in the three counties. Sports competitions will also be held in Tot in Kerio Valley Sub-County to celebrate the return of peace in Kerio Valley, while Nandi County will host a national youth summit. A sports conference and cultural competitions, among other activities, will also be held before the Mashujaa Day. We are also building a new county headquarters in Iten town and upgrading roads, water and electricity infrastructure. Leaders and senior government officials present included Governors Wisley Rotich and Jonathan Bii, Keiyo North MP Adams Kipsanai, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Dr. Abdi Hassan, County Commissioner David Kosgei, County Police Commander Peter Mulinge, County AP Commander Kennedy Matanga and MCAs, among others.
