Estados Unidos sacó al dictador, maneja las sanciones, pone la seguridad, decide quién viaja, reconoce las instituciones y marca el ritmo de los pasos. Eso se llama tutela. Llamen la vaina por su nombre. Creen que decirle tutela americana es una crítica, pero es, simplemente, una descripción. Y sí, prefiero la tutela americana a la cubana, a la iraní, a la rusa o a diez años más de una estructura criminal gobernando. Pónganme el águila calva encima y toquen el himno, que a mí me da igual. Desde niño aprendí que el cariño político siempre es alquilado. A mi familia la han llamado criminal desde el gobierno. Los chavistas nos dijeron fascistas, ladrones, golpistas y agentes de la CIA. Pero también he visto a dirigentes de oposición que nos rogaban por un centímetro de prensa acusarnos de traidores el día que dejamos de darles la razón. Es por eso que dejo claro que yo no trabajo para María Corina Machado ni para ningún político, sino por la libertad. En Venezuela y dónde sea. Si al final de esta partida terminamos con ella en Miraflores, perfecto. Si termina con otro venezolano electo democráticamente, también. La lucha es para que todos tengamos la posibilidad de ser electos en un sistema que garantice el respeto a la voluntad popular, pero no por la coronación de alguien en particular. Si hacemos esto último, no estaríamos muy lejos del chavismo. La República no es un hato. María Corina es la dirigente opositora más importante que tiene el país y su legitimidad es enorme, pero Venezuela no es propiedad de ella, no tiene derecho de veto sobre el futuro y se mide con la misma vara que todos: si lo que hace acerca al país a la libertad o no. Ahora veo a quienes pasaron décadas invocando el TIAR, la responsabilidad de proteger, la Carta Interamericana, etc, blandiendo la espada de una soberanía que, realmente, se perdió hace casi treinta años cuando a varios de esos indignados les dio por aupar al poder a un teniente coronel que había atentado contra la democracia. El mismo caudillo, presuntamente nacionalista, que le entregó a La Habana la política de seguridad, a Rusia acceso estratégico militar, a Irán la infraestructura energética y al hampa organizada una parte del Estado. Entonces, claro que esto es tutelado. Lo que no entiendo es el súbito pudor. Pasamos veinte años pidiéndole a Washington que actuara, Washington actuó, y ahora hay gente ofendida porque no les hizo el trabajo sucio y se largó ipso facto. No es lo mismo invocar al diablo que verlo llegar, pero es preferible una transición supervisada desde Washington que otra década de dictadura supervisada desde La Habana.
