Major General Teshome Gemechu and Deputy Assistant Secretary Brian J. Ellis have affirmed their joint commitment to quickly implement the agreed frameworks and elevate the bilateral defense relationship to a better and future-oriented strategic partnership. In addition, during their stay, the delegation held extensive discussions with other leaders of US defense institutions and conducted visits.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a strategic consultation from 17 to 18 August to support the preparation of its annual trend analysis document for the 2019 Ethiopian fiscal year. Ambassador Hadera further underlined Ethiopiaโs commitment to continue its contribution to peace and security as a member of the African Union Peace and Security Council, and its efforts to promote the Green Legacy initiative at the continental level and support the African Unionโs institutional reform process. He described the current regional, continental and global environment as complex, dynamic and interconnected, emphasizing that strategic consultations of this nature provide an important platform for scholars and experts to exchange ideas and contribute to comprehensive strategy formulation. The strategizing session held on the 17th of August 2026 brought representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Labor and Skills, the Ethiopian Investment Commission, and the Ethiopian Investment Holdings. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the leadership and staff of its affiliated institutions, joined ambassadors of neighboring countries and members of the Ethiopian diaspora in this year's Green Legacy Initiative by carrying out a tree-planting program in Bishoftu. This, in turn, will further strengthen Ethiopia's positive image on the international diplomatic stage.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, today held discussions with the Minister of External Relations of Cameroon, Lejeune Mbella Mbella, on bilateral and continental issues. The two ministers noted that Ethiopia and Cameroon enjoy strong and longstanding diplomatic relations. As the two countries prepare to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, they discussed ways to strengthen economic cooperation beyond their existing political and diplomatic ties. Cameroon's Minister of External Relations, Lejeune Mbella Mbella, congratulated Ethiopia on the successful hosting of the 49th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union.
