A typical post picks up 4.1K interactions against 5.0M followers, an engagement rate of 0.083%. Measured over 10 original posts, its engagement rate beats 82% of 3,758 tracked accounts of a similar size. Comparing inside a size band matters here: engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly just re-measure the follower count. Posts are seen about 205K times each, and 2.01% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 4.11% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.4 posts a day over the last 30 days, though only 23% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 15:00 UTC, and Wednesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 10 posts sampled, 10% carry an image or video and 20% are part of a thread. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 73K interactions, about 18x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size

Earvin Magic Johnson's engagement rate beats 82% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,758 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 10 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 76% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.083%, Earvin Magic Johnson sits above the 50th percentile of the 36,378 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the above the median band, which runs 0.08% to 0.432%.

Posting timing

This account posts most often around 15:00 UTC, and Wednesday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

I want to thank LeBron James and his super agent Rich Paul for taking a meeting with me back in 2018 when I was President of the Lakers and deciding to sign with us. He created a whole new era for the Lakers, including leading us to an NBA Championship in 2020 and all the milestones he surpassed in a Lakers jersey. I’ll always love and be grateful for him and wish him all the best in the next phase of his life, on and off the court!

Congratulations to all of the @nyknicks players on winning an NBA World Championship! A special shoutout to the Knicks starting five: Finals MVP Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges, and Josh Hart 👏🏾 Btw, Josh is one of the players I drafted in the first round when I was President of the Lakers, and he's one of my favorite players because of how he impacts winning without having to score a point!

People are going to talk about Giannis Antetokounmpo, and they should because he and Nikola Jokić are the two best players in the league, but don’t sleep on how important the Heat getting Bobby Portis is. Bobby’s ability to shoot from the 3-point line and his toughness, he will be a major part of the Heat success!

I want to congratulate Russell Westbrook on his retirement from the NBA after an extraordinary hall of fame basketball career! Russell’s the most athletic point guard that the NBA has ever seen and his dominance led him to become the NBA’s all-time leader in regular season triple-doubles.

I was in awe of Victor Wembanyama’s performance tonight - not only did he score 32 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists, he also became the 2nd youngest player to have 30, 5 and 5 in the victory over the Knicks on their home court (behind some kid who played for the Lakers) 😂 The entire Spurs team deserves a lot of credit for believing they could win and coming out and executing their game plan. They couldn’t have won without help from Castle, who stepped up tonight with 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists - and four other Spurs ended in double figures: Harper scored 13 points, Champagnie and Fox had 12 points, and Vassell finished with 11.

Earvin Magic Johnson (@MagicJohnson) has an engagement rate of 0.083%, based on the median interactions across 10 original posts from the last 30 days against 4,989,965 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.083%, Earvin Magic Johnson sits above the 50th percentile of the 36,378 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
