I am deeply anguished to know that the legendary colour of the Indian hockey team’s jersey has been changed to saffron. The iconic shade of blue of the Indian hockey team is not just a colour. It is an emotion associated with the nation’s sporting heritage. For decades, this colour united us in hope, in victory, in defeat and in the pursuit of sporting excellence. We have cried, laughed, celebrated and stood proudly with our men and women in blue. Wearing the blue jersey our teams have won Olympic medals with the national anthem playing on the world stage. #Blue is derived from the blue chakra in our national flag. It is a symbol of our national pride and identity. The colour blue belongs to every Indian. When the national hockey teams were struggling for sponsors, #Odisha created history by being the first and only state to support our national teams and our beloved game. Every Odia across the globe was proud of the state’s gift to national hockey. After 41 long years, our men’s team won an Olympic medal. Just because the government changed in Odisha, it should not change our national team colours. This is petty politics of the worst kind. Our blue jersey is to us what the iconic stripes are to Argentina and the yellow jersey is to Brazil. It is etched in our collective memory. Any change in this colour, is a crass attempt to erase our priceless sporting legacy. National symbols are meant to unite us not divide. I am given to understand that this step was taken under pressure from the BJP Government in Odisha. Those in authority may deny it, but the fact is that for the last two years, everybody in Odisha has seen the obsession of this government with changing colours of buildings, buses and even bridges. It is the only work that is happening in Odisha today. But now the same government has changed the colours of our national team. I strongly condemn this attempt by BJP Odisha to politicise a national game like hockey. It has deeply hurt the sentiments of lakhs of sports lovers across the country and the pride with which Odisha has supported the national hockey. #Hockey #MenInBlue #WomenInBlue

With grave concern, I bring to the attention of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri @MohanMOdisha ji about the recent passage of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 by Parliament. This legislation poses a serious threat to #Odisha's fiscal autonomy and constitutional rights over its natural resources. The provisions introduced in this Bill will disproportionately impact mineral-rich states like Odisha, leading to massive revenue losses and stifling our state's developmental agenda. The Amendment raises critical concerns through the provisions: Encroachment of State Land and Fiscal Jurisdiction, Restriction on State Revenue Powers and Delegation of Power to the Centre. Odisha's natural wealth belongs to her people, and the revenue generated from mining operations is crucial for financing healthcare, education, social welfare schemes, and infrastructure development across the state. By stripping the state of its power to impose taxes and cesses on its own mineral-bearing lands, the Union Government has dealt a heavy blow to federalism and state revenue autonomy. Given the gravity of this situation and its long-term adverse implications for Odisha's economy, I strongly urge Shri Majhi to convene an All-Party Meeting immediately to build a unified consensus on safeguarding Odisha's federal rights and mineral revenues. Urge you to summon a Special Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly to formally pass a unanimous Resolution opposing this Amendment Act and protesting the Union Government's usurpation of state powers. Fiscal autonomy is a constitutional principle built into our federal system. This Bill directly undermines a critical pillar of the Centre-State relationship, taking India's federal structure in a distinctly retrogressive direction and striking at the foundation of cooperative federalism. This issue transcends political affiliations, as it directly impacts the financial stability and future growth of Odisha. If the Central Government takes away the State's authority over mineral-bearing lands and its right to levy cesses, only pollution, displacement and burden of mining will remain with Odisha, while the benefits are taken away from its people. I hope you will act swiftly in the paramount interest of the people of Odisha.

ଏ ମାଟି ଆମର, ଏ ଖଣି ସମ୍ପଦ ମଧ୍ୟ ଆମର। ଓଡ଼ିଶାକୁ ଦୁର୍ବଳ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଚାଲିଥିବା ଭୟଙ୍କର ଷଡ଼ଯନ୍ତ୍ରକୁ ଓଡ଼ିଶାବାସୀ କଦାପି ବରଦାସ୍ତ କରିବେ ନାହିଁ। ୨୦୦୦ ମସିହାରେ ଯେତେବେଳେ ଆମେ ଓଡ଼ିଶା ଶାସନର ଦାୟିତ୍ୱ ନେଲୁ, ସେତେବେଳେ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଅର୍ଥନୀତି ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଦୟନୀୟ ଅବସ୍ଥାରେ ଥିଲା। ଆମକୁ ଓଭରଡ୍ରାଫ୍ଟ ଉପରେ ନିର୍ଭର କରିବାକୁ ପଡ଼ୁଥିଲା। ୨୦୨୪ରେ ଯେତେବେଳେ ସରକାର ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ ହେଲା, ସେତେବେଳେ ଆମେ ୫୦ ହଜାର କୋଟି ଟଙ୍କାର ବଳକା ରାଜସ୍ୱ ଛାଡ଼ି ଯାଇଥିଲୁ। ଆମର ଦୃଢ଼ ଆର୍ଥିକ ପରିଚାଳନା ଯୋଗୁଁ ହିଁ ଏହା ସମ୍ଭବ ହୋଇପାରିଥିଲା। ରାଜ୍ୟକୁ ରାଜସ୍ୱ ବଳକା କରିବା ସହିତ ଆମେ ଦ୍ରୁତ ପ୍ରଗତି ଆଣିପାରିଥିଲୁ। ଦାରିଦ୍ର୍ୟ ହ୍ରାସ ପାଇଥିଲା, ଭିତ୍ତିଭୂମିର ଉନ୍ନତି ହୋଇଥିଲା ଏବଂ ଅନେକ ଜନକଲ୍ୟାଣକାରୀ ଯୋଜନା କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକାରୀ ହୋଇଥିଲା। ଏହି ଦ୍ରୁତ ବିକାଶରେ ଖଣି ଟିକସ ଏକ ମୁଖ୍ୟ ଭୂମିକା ଗ୍ରହଣ କରିଥିଲା। କିନ୍ତୁ ଆଜି ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଅର୍ଥନୀତି ପୁଣି ବିପଦରେ। ଆପଣମାନେ ଜାଣନ୍ତି, ନିକଟରେ ସଂସଦରେ 'ଖଣି ଏବଂ ଖଣିଜ (ବିକାଶ ଓ ନିୟାମକ) ସଂଶୋଧନ ବିଲ୍' (MMDR Amendment Bill) ପାସ୍ ହୋଇଛି। ଏହା ଓଡ଼ିଶା ତଥା ଓଡ଼ିଶାବାସୀଙ୍କର ଅପୂରଣୀୟ କ୍ଷତି କରିବାକୁ ଯାଉଛି। ଏତେ ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଏକ ସଂଶୋଧନ ବିଲ୍କୁ କେନ୍ଦ୍ର ସରକାର ବିନା କୌଣସି ଆଲୋଚନାରେ ପାସ୍ କରିଦେଲେ। କେବଳ ବିଜେଡି ସାଂସଦମାନେ ହିଁ ରାଜ୍ୟସଭାରେ ଏହାକୁ ଦୃଢ଼ ବିରୋଧ କରିଥିଲେ। ଏହି ବିଲ୍କୁ ବିରୋଧ କରି ମୁଁ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ମାନ୍ୟବର ମୁଖ୍ୟମନ୍ତ୍ରୀଙ୍କୁ ଚିଠି ଲେଖିଛି। ଏକ ସର୍ବଦଳୀୟ ବୈଠକ ଡାକିବାକୁ ଏବଂ ବିଧାନସଭାର ସ୍ୱତନ୍ତ୍ର ଅଧିବେଶନ ଆହ୍ୱାନ କରିବାକୁ ଚିଠିରେ ଅନୁରୋଧ ମଧ୍ୟ କରିଛି। ଓଡ଼ିଶା ଓ ଓଡ଼ିଶାବାସୀଙ୍କ ସ୍ୱାର୍ଥ ଆଗରେ କେହି ବଡ଼ ନୁହନ୍ତି। ଦଳମତ ନିର୍ବିଶେଷରେ, ମାଟିର ସ୍ୱାର୍ଥ ପାଇଁ ଆଜି ଆମ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କୁ ଏକାଠି ହେବାକୁ ପଡ଼ିବ। ଏହି ସଂଶୋଧିତ ବିଲ୍ ଆମ ଖଣି ସମ୍ପଦ ଉପରେ ଥିବା ଆମ ଅଧିକାରକୁ ଛଡ଼ାଇ ନେଇଛି। ଆପଣମାନେ ଜାଣନ୍ତି, ଓଡ଼ିଶାରେ କ୍ରୋମାଇଟ୍, ବକ୍ସାଇଟ୍, ଲୁହାପଥର, କୋଇଲା ଏବଂ ମାଙ୍ଗାନିଜ୍ର ସର୍ବାଧିକ ଭଣ୍ଡାର ରହିଛି। କିନ୍ତୁ ଏହି ନୂଆ ଆଇନ ଏ ସବୁ ଉପରୁ ଆମ ନିୟନ୍ତ୍ରଣ ହଟାଇ ଦେଇଛି। ଆମ ଲୋକଙ୍କ କଲ୍ୟାଣ ପାଇଁ ଆମେ ଆମ ଖଣିରୁ କାହିଁକି ଟିକସ ଆଦାୟ କରିପାରିବୁ ନାହିଁ? ଆମ ଲୋକ ଧୂଳି-ଧୂଆଁ ସହିବେ, ଅଥଚ ଦିଲ୍ଲୀ ଦରବାର ଆମ ସମ୍ପଦରେ ସମୃଦ୍ଧ ହେବ—ଏହାକୁ ଆମେ କେବେ ବି ସହ୍ୟ କରିବୁ ନାହିଁ। ଦୀର୍ଘ ୨୪ ବର୍ଷ ଧରି ମୁଁ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ସ୍ୱାର୍ଥକୁ ଜଗି ରହିଥିଲି। କେନ୍ଦ୍ରରେ ଯେକୌଣସି ଦଳର ସରକାର ଥିଲେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଅଧିକାର ଛଡ଼ାଇ ନେବାକୁ କେହି ସାହସ କରିପାରୁ ନ ଥିଲେ। ଆପଣମାନେ ୨୦୨୪ରେ ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ ଚାହିଁ ନୂଆ ବିଜେପି ସରକାର ଗଠନ କଲେ। କିନ୍ତୁ ମାତ୍ର ଦୁଇ ବର୍ଷ ଭିତରେ ସବୁକିଛି ବଦଳିଗଲା। ଓଡ଼ିଶାକୁ ଏବେ ପୁଣି କେନ୍ଦ୍ରର ଦୟା ଉପରେ ନିର୍ଭର କରିବାକୁ ପଡ଼ିବ। ଆପଣମାନେ ଓଡ଼ିଶାରୁ ଲୋକସଭାକୁ ୨୦ ଜଣ ବିଜେପି ସାଂସଦ ପଠାଇଲେ, କିନ୍ତୁ ଏ ମାଟିର ସ୍ୱାର୍ଥ ପାଇଁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ କେହି ହେଲେ ପାଟି ଖୋଲିଲେ ନାହିଁ। ରାଜ୍ୟ ତଥା ଜନସାଧାରଣଙ୍କ ସ୍ୱାର୍ଥ ରକ୍ଷା କରିବାରେ ସେମାନେ ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ବିଫଳ ହେଲେ। ବିଜୁ ବାବୁ ସବୁବେଳେ ରାଜ୍ୟର ବିକାଶ ପାଇଁ 'ଆର୍ଥିକ ସ୍ୱୟଂଶାସନ' ଉପରେ ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱ ଦେଉଥିଲେ। ଏହି ସଂଶୋଧିତ ଆଇନ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ରାଜସ୍ୱ ଆୟ ବହୁତ କମିଯିବ। ପ୍ରତିବର୍ଷ ଆମକୁ ହଜାର ହଜାର କୋଟି ଟଙ୍କାର କ୍ଷତି ସହିବାକୁ ପଡ଼ିବ। ଏହି ଅର୍ଥରେ ଓଡ଼ିଶାରେ ଅନେକ ସ୍କୁଲ, କଲେଜ, ଡାକ୍ତରଖାନା ନିର୍ମାଣ ହୋଇପାରିଥାନ୍ତା; ରାସ୍ତାଘାଟ, ପୋଲ, ବିଦ୍ୟୁତ୍ ଏବଂ ଅନ୍ୟାନ୍ୟ ଭିତ୍ତିଭୂମି ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ ହୋଇପାରିଥାନ୍ତା; ନୂଆ ନୂଆ ଜନହିତକର ଯୋଜନା ହୋଇ ଚାଷୀ ଓ ଗରିବ ଲୋକ ଉପକୃତ ହୋଇପାରିଥାନ୍ତେ। କିନ୍ତୁ ଏବେ ଏତେ ବଡ଼ କ୍ଷତି ଓଡ଼ିଶା ସହିପାରିବ ତ? ଆମର ଆଗାମୀ ପିଢ଼ି ତଥା ଯୁବସମାଜକୁ ଆମେ କ’ଣ ଜବାବ ଦେବା? #GenZ ଙ୍କ ଭବିଷ୍ୟତ କ'ଣ ହେବ? ଓଡ଼ିଶାକୁ ଦୁର୍ବଳ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଚାଲିଥିବା ଏହି ଭୟଙ୍କର ଷଡ଼ଯନ୍ତ୍ରକୁ ଓଡ଼ିଶାବାସୀ କଦାପି ବରଦାସ୍ତ କରିବେ ନାହିଁ। ଏ ମାଟି ଆମର, ଏ ଖଣି ସମ୍ପଦ ମଧ୍ୟ ଆମର। ଆମ ଅଧିକାରର ସୁରକ୍ଷା ପାଇଁ ମୁଁ ନିଶ୍ଚୟ ଲଢ଼ିବି। ଶେଷ ନିଶ୍ୱାସ ଥିବା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଓଡ଼ିଶା ଏବଂ ଓଡ଼ିଶାବାସୀଙ୍କ ହକ୍ ପାଇଁ ମୋର ସଂଗ୍ରାମ ଜାରି ରହିବ। ଏହି ଲଢ଼େଇରେ ଏକଜୁଟ ହୋଇ ସାମିଲ ହେବା ପାଇଁ ମୁଁ ସମସ୍ତ ଓଡ଼ିଶାବାସୀଙ୍କୁ ନିବେଦନ କରୁଛି। #MMDRBill2026 #BJDWithOdisha

Appealing Hon’ble BJP MPs of #Odisha to challenge and call for a reversal of the amendment made in the #MMDR Act that takes away the powers of the Odisha Govt. Our Parliament is the highest temple of Indian democracy. As a member of Parliament, you are the voice of Odisha in this highest forum of democracy. The people of Odisha elected you in good faith to protect and further their interests. It is therefore a matter of utmost concern that you voted in favour of one of the most arbitrary legislations that will have far reaching adverse implications for the people of Odisha who put their trust in you. August 13th which saw the passage of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha with your support was a black day for Odisha. The Bill was passed with less than ten minutes of discussion in the Lok Sabha, despite having provisions with far reaching implications for the people of Odisha. This was not an ordinary piece of legislation. Odisha undoubtedly will be the worst affected by this legislation. As you are well aware, Odisha accounts for nearly 44% of India's mineral wealth. For decades, Odisha has contributed its mineral wealth to the building of India's steel, power, mining and infrastructure sectors. India stands taller and stronger today because of the immense contribution made by Odisha and her people. The estimated annual loss would be more than ₹12,000 crores leading to lakhs of crores of rupees over time. But the bigger loss is that in a single legislative stroke the control over our own minerals and our mineral bearing lands was taken away from us. And this happened under your watch. This law is an injustice to the children and youth of Odisha, whose future is linked to the resources and opportunities of this State. It is an injustice to the people of Odisha who bear the pollution, displacement, environmental degradation and the hazards and hardships of mining. And, above all, it is an injustice to the dream of an empowered Odisha, that has the confidence and resources to determine its own future. I earnestly appeal to you to listen to your conscience and think about the future generations of Odisha. History remembers and honours those who raise their voices when injustice is done to their people and resources. History will judge you not by the party you stood with, but by whether you stood up for Odisha when it mattered most. You are standing at a historic juncture with a choice to stand and fight for the state and the people who sent you to the Lok Sabha with a mandate to protect their interests. I leave it to your judgment.
