American Red Cross engagement report
@RedCross - 4.4M followers on X
Measured over 18 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on August 31, 2026.
Engagement
A typical post picks up 58 interactions against 4.4M followers, an engagement rate of 0.001%. Measured over 18 original posts, its engagement rate beats 20% of 3,809 tracked accounts of a similar size. That is a reason to look at how the audience behaves - reply depth, saves, whether the followers are recent - rather than a conclusion about it on its own. Posts are seen about 7.3K times each, and 0.802% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 0.166% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 0.63 post a day over the last 30 days, with activity on roughly 50% of days. Most posts go out around 19:00 UTC, and Monday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 18 posts sampled, 100% carry an image or video and 22% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 257 interactions, about 4.4x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size
American Red Cross's engagement rate beats 20% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,809 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 10 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.
On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 50% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.
Where this sits in the catalog
At 0.001%, American Red Cross sits below the 10th percentile of the 36,960 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.012%.

Posting timing
This account posts most often around 19:00 UTC, and Monday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

We are facing a national blood crisis, with summer blood donations falling to a four-year low. We're facing a national blood crisis — only the second one in our organization’s history. Blood donations have fallen to a four-year summer low, pushing an already strained blood supply to a critical level. We are in dire need of donors to help patients counting on lifesaving blood for emergency surgeries, trauma care, cancer treatment, and other serious medical needs. Teams with @CruzRojaVe are helping conduct search and rescue after last night's powerful series of earthquakes. Less than a minute apart, people first felt a 7.2 magnitude foreshock, followed by a 7.5 magnitude mainshock. As assessments continue and the full impact becomes clearer, the most urgent anticipated needs include search and rescue, safe shelter for displaced families, and access to emergency health care.

We're facing an emergency blood shortage — our national blood supply fell nearly 25% over the past month. During a blood shortage, doctors may face difficult choices about which patients receive blood transfusions and who will need to wait. We are in urgent need of donors to help patients who are counting on lifesaving blood following accidents, during surgeries, and for treatment of conditions such as sickle cell disease and cancer. Help us beat the current shortage by scheduling an appointment to give blood or platelets: https://t.co/lbj3JET03j

Dangerous heat is expected across much of the country, with millions of people likely to experience feels-like temperatures above 100 degrees this week. Extreme heat can quickly become life-threatening, so take steps now to protect yourself and your loved ones. 1) Stay hydrated. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and sugary drinks on hot days. 2) Avoid direct sunlight from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 3) Wear light-colored clothing. 5) Seek shade, wear a hat, or use an umbrella to stay cool. 6) Immediately go somewhere cool if you feel dizzy or nauseous, and call 911.

Mango and Mitzi are bringing a little sweetness and joy to the front lines of the Spokane wildfires. Working with the Red Cross through 348 Golden Angels, these therapy dogs visited Washington Air National Guard members supporting wildfire relief efforts. Between assembling and distributing hundreds of wildfire kits, sifters and emergency supplies for people impacted by the wildfires, service members were able to take a mindful break and spend some time with our furry friends. We're thankful for everyone, including those with four paws, helping bring hope and healing to communities in need.

Returning home after a wildfire is one of the hardest moments a survivor can face. For Jim, it meant saying goodbye to a home he spent 25 years building. When Jim returned for the first time after the Aspen Acres Fire in Colorado, he and his daughter, Julia, walked through the remains together, reflecting on all they had lost. Among the debris, Julia found several decorative pots that had survived the fire and carried them back to her father. In that difficult moment, @COWYRedCross Disaster Mental Health volunteer Mike Baker was there to listen, support, and help the family begin processing what came next. For Jim, returning home brought painful confirmation of what the fire had taken. But he didn't have to face that moment alone. In the days, weeks and months after a disaster, recovery is about more than rebuilding homes. As families navigate grief, loss and uncertainty, disaster mental health volunteers are there to help them face the road ahead. ❤️

For over half of our country's history, our mission has been shaped by Clara Barton’s belief that people deserve help when they need it most. She founded the American Red Cross 145 years ago after encountering the international Red Cross network while traveling through Europe following the Civil War. Clara returned home determined to create an organization that would bring relief and care to people facing crisis. For 23 years, Clara led the Red Cross with compassion and purpose. Under her guidance, the organization responded to its first disasters at home and abroad, supported the U.S. military during the Spanish-American War, and helped lay the foundation for safety training programs that continue today. We honor Clara’s legacy — one that has made a difference across the U.S. for nearly two centuries — by helping communities recover from disasters, supporting service members and their families, teaching lifesaving skills, and providing lifesaving blood.

Meet Jim Parker, who has donated nearly 400 units of platelets with the @KSRedCross! 🎉 He began donating blood almost 50 years ago and has since become a dedicated platelet donor, donating platelets every two weeks with his wife, Linda. We’re very thankful for donors like Jim who help us make sure hospitals have blood products on hand for patients in need. ❤️

- What is American Red Cross's engagement rate on X?
- American Red Cross (@RedCross) has an engagement rate of 0.001%, based on the median interactions across 18 original posts from the last 30 days against 4,386,071 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
- Is that a good engagement rate?
- At 0.001%, American Red Cross sits below the 10th percentile of the 36,960 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
- Does @RedCross have real engagement?
- Its engagement rate beats 20% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,809 accounts), which puts it in the bottom quarter for its size group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
- When does @RedCross post?
- Most posts go out around 19:00 UTC, and Monday is its busiest day, at roughly 0.63 posts per day across the measured window.
