It was an honour to meet President Joseph Aoun during my first official visit to Lebanon. I thanked the President for the warm welcome extended to me. Our discussion focused on Lebanon’s recovery and on how @UNESCO can continue working alongside national institutions and all partners across its mandate — from education and culture to science, communication and information. I also had the privilege of formally presenting the certificate of inscription of Mount Amel on the UNESCO #WorldHeritage List. I also paid tribute to the resilience of the Lebanese people, and to the richness and diversity that have long made Lebanon such an important voice within the UNESCO family. As a founding Member State, Lebanon holds a special place in our Organization.
