Bill Gurley engagement report
@bgurley - 806K followers on X
Measured over 15 original posts from a 30-day window, last computed on August 31, 2026.
Engagement
A typical post picks up 536 interactions against 806K followers, an engagement rate of 0.067%. Measured over 15 original posts, its engagement rate beats 63% of 3,739 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 282K times each, and 0.19% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 35.0% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 1.6 posts a day over the last 30 days, with activity on roughly 67% of days. Most posts go out around 16:00 UTC, and Tuesday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 15 posts sampled, 60% carry an image or video and 40% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 20K interactions, about 37x its own typical post. Recurring topics include #foxbusiness, #positivity.

Compared with accounts its own size
Bill Gurley's engagement rate beats 63% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,739 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 8 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.
On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 15% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.
Where this sits in the catalog
At 0.067%, Bill Gurley sits above the 25th percentile of the 36,521 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the below the median band, which runs 0.012% to 0.08%.

This account posts most often around 16:00 UTC, and Tuesday is its busiest day of the week. The bars below are the catalog-wide pattern, with this account's own busiest slot marked. They do not show how this account performs at each hour: we keep one aggregate per account, not one per hour, so that measurement does not exist in our data.

We got attacked by secret unreleased proprietary models and defended ourselves with an open model, more precisely the @nvidia quantized version of GLM 5.2 coming from @Zai_org. Banning any open model would hurt first cyber security defenders, startups, small companies, researchers and everyone who's not a frontier lab and need on-prem affordable controlable models to compete and protect themselves. Let's not do that!

In Loudoun Virginia home to more than 200 data centers, tax revenue from data centers has exploded. As a result, over the past 10years, they lowered the real property tax rate every year from $1.145 in tax year 2016 to $0.805 cents per $100 in assessed value for 2026. https://t.co/P1fo5ISG41

🚨 JUST IN: DoorDash is leaving Delaware for Nevada. Stockholders controlling 54.2% of DoorDash’s voting power have approved the reincorporation, including cofounders Tony Xu, Andy Fang and Stanley Tang. The board unanimously backed the move. DoorDash pointed directly at Delaware’s “surprising” court outcomes and increasingly litigious environment, saying Nevada offers a more predictable, statute-based legal system. A major founder-led tech company just made the DExit case in its own SEC filing. https://t.co/iGTzgGKQgw

I’ve never met Leo, and from all I can gather he was an exceptional student. Well above top 1%. Probably > 1/10,000. That said I don’t think he was a “student of finance.” I asked ChatGPT to name the top 25 investing books of all time. And then asked what percentage of those books discussed leverage and tail risk. The answer below. Quite unusual to chose a career where you are smart at everything else perhaps, but ignorant about one of the most discussed elements of the practice. You have to be willfully uneducated. It’s dangerous to talk about this execution as anything other than reckless and careless. Simply because that’s the only lesson the future investors need to hear. Nothing surprising happened here. Just what you would expect from running a portfolio that leveraged. Was just a matter of time. Very “simple” math.

- What is Bill Gurley's engagement rate on X?
- Bill Gurley (@bgurley) has an engagement rate of 0.067%, based on the median interactions across 15 original posts from the last 30 days against 805,802 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
- Is that a good engagement rate?
- At 0.067%, Bill Gurley sits above the 25th percentile of the 36,521 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
- Does @bgurley have real engagement?
- Its engagement rate beats 63% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,739 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
- When does @bgurley post?
- Most posts go out around 16:00 UTC, and Tuesday is its busiest day, at roughly 1.63 posts per day across the measured window.
