A typical post picks up 516 interactions against 1.4M followers, an engagement rate of 0.036%. Measured over 21 original posts, its engagement rate beats 68% of 3,881 tracked accounts of a similar size, which puts it in the middle of its size range rather than at either end. Posts are seen about 37K times each, and 1.40% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 2.56% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 1.6 posts a day over the last 30 days, with activity on roughly 70% of days. Most posts go out around 19:00 UTC, and Monday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 21 posts sampled, 76% carry an image or video and 19% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 39K interactions, about 75x its own typical post. Recurring topics include #believeinjoburg, #joburgroads, #voteanc2026.

Compared with accounts its own size

Helen Zille's engagement rate beats 68% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,881 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 10 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 66% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.036%, Helen Zille sits above the 25th percentile of the 37,701 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the below the median band, which runs 0.012% to 0.081%.

Engagement rate as a share of followers, across the 37,701 accounts we have scanned enough to measure. The axis is logarithmic, because the top and bottom of this population are about 104,204 times apart and a linear axis would flatten everything below the median into a single point.

🤯 Listen to this extraordinary exchange between Camilla Tominey and Labour’s Health Secretary James Murray. It is genuinely jaw-dropping. Camilla: “You’re quite pro-trans, aren’t you? Do you think a woman can have a penis? Because you did previously?” Murray: “No, I don’t.” Camilla: “So you’ve changed your mind?” Murray: “Yes.” Camilla: “Why?” Murray stumbles. He says he’s been thinking about the issue over recent years and would not now say trans women are women. Camilla hits back: “You must have known that before. You are very well educated. How on earth can you have previously thought that a woman can have a penis?” He had no real answer. Because there isn’t one. This is not some backbench MP. This is the Secretary of State for Health, the man responsible for the entire NHS, puberty blocker policy, women’s health services, and child safeguarding. He spent years either believing or pretending to believe that biological sex is fluid and that women can have penises. Only now, when the Cass Review, court rulings, and public opinion have made that position politically toxic, has he magically “changed his mind”. Think about the damage done while he held that view. The eroded women’s rights. The confused children fast-tracked toward hormones and surgery. The female prisoners and athletes forced to share spaces with biological males. All enabled or ignored by senior Labour figures like him. This level of ideological delusion at the very top of government is not just embarrassing, it is dangerous. Basic biology should never have been up for debate, let alone something a Health Secretary had to “evolve” on.

Joburg’s people will never give up on her, and I am one of them! It is a privilege to accept the nomination as mayoral candidate for this great city. We will not let taps stay dry. We won’t accept brokenness. We will wrestle Jozi back from a criminal mafia. #BelieveInJoburg 🇿🇦 https://t.co/5srehDh3e6

🚨 "MBALULA WAS DISHING OUT THE MONEY AT CLINICS BEFORE ELECTIONS" Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma alleges that "money is what works now in the ANC," claiming that @MbalulaFikile was dishing out money at clinics before party elections to secure support. If these allegations are true, they raise serious questions about whether internal party contests are being decided by ideas, leadership, and service, or by who has the biggest wallet. A liberation movement should be built on principles, not patronage. Members deserve to choose leaders based on vision and competence, not financial incentives. These are significant claims that deserve clear responses and accountability. South Africans are watching closely because the quality of leadership inside the ANC ultimately affects the country's future. The ANC has been brazenly corrupt for many years now..

😡 ✅ I share Nick Clegg’s anger about Brexit: “I’m angry because I know that many of the people who propagated that lie were smart enough to know it wasn’t true. Forget the £350 million on the side of the bus. The fundamental assertion was that you would have more control over your own fate by leaving the European Union. 🤥 All of those things are lies. We deal with all of those issues better by working with others.” Geography hasn’t changed. We will always be next to France, Belgium and the Netherlands … not Connecticut.

What is Helen Zille's engagement rate on X?
Helen Zille (@helenzille) has an engagement rate of 0.036%, based on the median interactions across 21 original posts from the last 30 days against 1,444,569 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.036%, Helen Zille sits above the 25th percentile of the 37,701 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
Does @helenzille have real engagement?
Its engagement rate beats 68% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,881 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
When does @helenzille post?
Most posts go out around 19:00 UTC, and Monday is its busiest day, at roughly 1.57 posts per day across the measured window.
