क्या आरक्षण को केवल किसी के कह देने भर से समाप्त किया जा सकता है? आरक्षण कोई खैरात नहीं, बल्कि संवैधानिक अधिकार है। इसे समाप्त करने की बात तो दूर, इसकी समीक्षा या इसमें बदलाव की सोच भी उन लोगों की सोच को दर्शाती है, जो यह नहीं समझते कि आरक्षण आज भी क्यों आवश्यक है। आज भी सामाजिक भेदभाव पूरी तरह समाप्त नहीं हुआ है। दलित दूल्हे को घोड़ी चढ़ने से रोका जाता है, दलित युवक की बारात रोक दी जाती है और कई जगहों पर दलित नेताओं के मंदिर जाने के बाद परिसर को गंगाजल से शुद्ध करने जैसी घटनाएं सामने आती हैं। ये घटनाएं बताती हैं कि छुआछूत और भेदभाव की मानसिकता आज भी समाज में मौजूद है। ऐसे में आरक्षण की आवश्यकता को कैसे नकारा जा सकता है? मैं पूरे विश्वास के साथ कह सकता हूं कि जब तक मैं यहां हूं और जब तक रामविलास पासवान जी का बेटा चिराग पासवान सरकार का हिस्सा है, तब तक आरक्षण की व्यवस्था को कमजोर या समाप्त करने की किसी भी कोशिश को स्वीकार नहीं किया जाएगा।
