A typical post picks up 8 interactions against 498K followers, an engagement rate of 0.002%. Measured over 32 original posts, its engagement rate beats 11% of 3,899 tracked accounts of a similar size. That is a reason to look at how the audience behaves - reply depth, saves, whether the followers are recent - rather than a conclusion about it on its own. Posts are seen about 2.5K times each, and 0.301% of those impressions turn into an interaction. That is about 0.5% of the follower count, which is the gap between an audience on paper and an audience in a timeline. Posting runs at about 1.3 post a day over the last 30 days, though only 7% of days saw any activity at all. Most posts go out around 22:00 UTC, and Thursday is the busiest day of the week. Of the 32 posts sampled, 31% carry an image or video and 91% link out. The account's strongest tracked post pulled 58 interactions, about 7.3x its own typical post.

Compared with accounts its own size

KOMO News's engagement rate beats 11% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,899 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 7 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 23% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.002%, KOMO News sits below the 10th percentile of the 37,856 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the bottom 25% band, which runs below 0.012%.

The teen who fired a gun during a fight in the Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood in 2024, killing a 13-year-old girl, changed his plea to guilty at a hearing Wednesday afternoon. In an agreement with prosecutors, Samuel Gizaw, 18, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder for the death of 13-year-old Jayda Woods-Johnson. Gizaw read a statement in court accepting responsibility for the shooting and apologizing to Woods-Johnson's family. "I'm truly sorry for my actions, and I take full responsibility for what I did," he said. "I made such a horrible mistake at such a young age that affected so many people. I hope today’s guilty plea brings more closure to the family. I’m so sorry for what I did; I can’t even imagine what they go through every day.” Link: https://t.co/46nSy0ML9n #komo #komonews #komo4 #komo4news #seattle #seattlenews #washingtonnews #AlderwoodMall #Lynnwood #Shooting #13YearOld #Deadly

Seattle teachers and support staff have authorized a strike if needed as they seek better pay and working conditions. Ninety-one percent of Seattle Education Association members voted to authorize a strike, the union said. The vote does not mean a strike will automatically happen; the union would not need to strike if it reaches a new contract agreement with Seattle Public Schools. The union said the vote included teachers, paraeducators, office professionals, counselors, social workers and other SEA members, and showed that Seattle educators are united and ready to take action for the schools and support they say students deserve. The vote followed 24 bargaining sessions with SPS since June, according to the SEA. The union said educators entered negotiations with proposals focused on improving student outcomes and finding ways to shift more resources into classrooms. People living in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood captured video Tuesday afternoon of what appeared to be a shootout between bail agents and people residents described as drug dealers. The incident involved one of many recreational vehicles, or RVs, often found parked alongside Sandel Park. In the video, roughly six “bounty hunters” are seen wearing bulletproof vests and firing a 40 mm launcher into an RV after smashing some of the vehicle’s windows. Residents believed they were hearing real gunshots and called 911. Seattle police responded and confirmed the bail agents were using a 40 mm launcher, a tactical single-shot launcher that does not use typical ammunition. Police also confirmed there was no evidence that a firearm was fired at the scene. Residents told KOMO News that the two people living in the RV targeted by the bail agents are “known drug dealers” who often work out of Sandel Park. The two people can also be seen in residents’ videos attempting to drive away in the RV and flee. Full story here: https://t.co/G3F4fvh9NP #komo #komo4 #komonews #seattle

What is KOMO News's engagement rate on X?
KOMO News (@komonews) has an engagement rate of 0.002%, based on the median interactions across 32 original posts from the last 30 days against 497,515 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.002%, KOMO News sits below the 10th percentile of the 37,856 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
Does @komonews have real engagement?
Its engagement rate beats 11% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,899 accounts), which puts it in the bottom quarter for its size group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
When does @komonews post?
Most posts go out around 22:00 UTC, and Thursday is its busiest day, at roughly 1.33 posts per day across the measured window.
