Compared with accounts its own size

Tamil Nadu Weatherman's engagement rate beats 74% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,758 accounts, accounts of similar size (decile 8 of 10)). A percentile is spread evenly by construction, so 50 really is the middle of that group and 90 really is its top tenth.

On engagement per impression rather than per follower it beats 56% of the same group. When those two numbers disagree, the gap is about how far its posts travel rather than how people react to them.

Where this sits in the catalog

At 0.122%, Tamil Nadu Weatherman sits above the 50th percentile of the 36,521 accounts in this comparison. That places it in the above the median band, which runs 0.08% to 0.434%.

KTCC (Chennai): Carry your umbrella or raincoat every day over the next 6–7 days ========================== Chennai, don't step out in the evenings without your umbrella or raincoat over the next 6–7 days. Rain won't be widespread every day, but evening and night thunderstorms will be a daily affair somewhere across the city. Some areas may get a good spell today, while neighboring localities may stay dry. If your area misses out today, don't worry, there's a good chance you'll get your turn the very next day as these rain clouds keep shifting across Chennai. If you're heading out after 4 pm, keep your rain gear handy. A few places could see sudden, intense downpours with gusty winds, so don't get caught off guard. This won't be an all-day rain event. Instead, expect the typical evening convection, with thunderstorms popping up across different parts of Chennai almost every day over the coming week till Friday 02 to 8th August. Track the weather and enjoy the much needed rains.

Two famous Weatherman in Maharashtra and Telangana have decide to monetize their weather alerts, is it the right step? ==================== Once upon a time, back in the early late 2000s and 2010s, weather blogging in India was a niche hobby. There were only a handful of weather bloggers who passionately tracked monsoon, low pressure, western disturbance and thunderstorms. Vagaries of Weather – Rajesh Kapadia Indian Weatherman – Rakesh Tamil Nadu Weatherman – Pradeep John Gujarat Weather - Ashok Patel Kea Weather - Bloggers Platform Fast forward to today, weather blogging has evolved into a full fledged ecosystem. Hundreds of weather pages have emerged across India in 2026, with social media allowing forecasts to reach millions instantly. Two well known weather bloggers (one from Maharashtra and another from Telangana) have chosen to monetize their expertise by offering premium forecasts and paid weather alerts. Another weatherman from Tamil Nadu has partnered with a leading Tamil TV News channel providing weather analysis on air and gets paid professionally. I had both these opportunities during my course of my journey and here is my take - Positives -------------- 1. Localized service and response: Subscribers can receive location specific forecasts, personalized alerts, and quicker responses than what is feasible through free public updates. 2. Dedicated communication: Paid subscription can provide more focused discussions and priority alerts. Negatives ------------ 1. Critical information: Severe weather warnings have a public safety aspect. If important warnings are available only behind subscription, some people may miss timely information. 2. Expectation increases: Once people pay, they expect consistently accurate, timely, and personalized forecasts. This increases accountability and customer support requirements. 3. Trust can be broken: If forecast performance is poor over time, subscribers can quickly cancel and publicly criticize the service. 4. Free sources: Government and many weather enthusiasts continue to provide forecasts free of cost, making it challenging to justify a subscription unless there is clear added value. Conclusion ------------- When something is offered free for a long time, people often don't realize the effort and value behind it and sometimes taken for granted until a critical event occurs. For many weather bloggers, the motivation was never money. It was driven purely by passion, curiosity and a genuine love for weather. The greatest reward was knowing that the forecasts helped people stay safe, plan better and understand the Weather little more and giving them the correct stats and facts. I believe weather information that affects public safety should always remain free and accessible to everyone. At the same time, if someone wants to turn their passion into a profession, there's nothing wrong with offering specialized services for a fee. Passion alone doesn't pay the bills, and there's value in being compensated for the time, effort, and expertise involved. The key is striking the right balance, keeping essential weather updates and warnings free to the public while offering premium analysis or customized services as a professional product. Serving the public interest and building a profession that can coexist is the way forward. Tamil Nadu Weatherman on Facebook, X (Twitter), and WhatsApp Channel will always remain free and continue to serve the public. Even during the toughest financial phase of my life from 2015 to 2022, when I was struggling with significant credit card debt and personal loans, I never put weather updates behind a subscription. That commitment remains unchanged today. As long as these platforms exist, Tamil Nadu Weatherman will continue to provide free weather updates and public weather information.

If the forecasts hold true, today could turn out to be one of the best Southwest Monsoon day of the season for Tamil Nadu. Rain is expected across almost all districts. Chennai, too, is forecast to receive evening and night showers throughout this week, but today appears to be the most promising of them all. Let's hope the forecast lives up to the expectations !!! Enjoy the rains. If it misses today in your place and rains nearby, then you will have chance tomorrow.

Mid-night to early Morning rains were reported at many places of KTCC (Chennai) tonight too rains can be expected across KTCC (Chennai), Vellore, Ranipet, Villupuram, Pondy, Tvmalai, etc. The same condition remains for next one week. Cauvery Rains - The rains over the Cauvery catchment have reduced compared to the last two days. However, healthy inflows will continue over the next few days, largely sustained by the surplus water being released from the Kabini Dam. This also highlights an important aspect of river management. If the proposed Mekedatu Dam were to be constructed, a portion of these downstream flows could potentially be impounded there before reaching Tamil Nadu. During periods like this, when surplus water from Kabini is boosting inflows downstream, Mekedatu could alter the timing and quantity of water reaching Mettur.

Chennai Storms are finally moving into the Sea! and today was the best one among the last few days. Much needed rains across almost the entire North Tamil Nadu belt. Delta districts, Cuddalore & Puducherry get ready! Tonight, could be “damal dumeel” for many places with strong thunderstorms, lightning and sharp bursts of rain. North TN needed this rain badly and tonight looks promising. Earlier, down south Madurai-Sivangangai belt got very good rains.

11th day in a row some rains in parts of Chennai City. All these rains are 15-20 mins. Never seen daily storms moving to Chennai like this in my recent memory. Other places - Madurai -Sivagangai once gain intense storms. Storms are also seen in Salem-Dharmapuri-Cuddalore and Delta belt for 2nd day, Yesterday too all the same places got rains.

KTCC (Chennai): 6 on 6 Looks very likely !!! ------------------------------- There are high chances of rain across KTCC (Chennai) today as well and it will make it 6 consecutive days where at least some part of Chennai has received rain. As has been the case over the last five days, don't expect an all-day rain event. These will be the usual evening and night thunderstorms, with different parts of the city getting lucky on different days. Keep an eye on the skies in evening and nights. Not all places will see rain, but some places in KTCC almost certainly will. That's how the convective rains happen. If your places miss today, you will get chance tomorrow. Catchment areas of Periyar Dam, Valparai and also Cauvery catchment will get good rains today.

What is Tamil Nadu Weatherman's engagement rate on X?
Tamil Nadu Weatherman (@praddy06) has an engagement rate of 0.122%, based on the median interactions across 31 original posts from the last 30 days against 566,690 followers. Replies, reposts and quote-posts of other people are excluded from that sample.
Is that a good engagement rate?
At 0.122%, Tamil Nadu Weatherman sits above the 50th percentile of the 36,521 accounts in this comparison. Those comparison accounts are all large ones, because our scanning cadence is weighted towards big accounts, so this is a ranking among peers of similar scale rather than a ranking across X.
Does @praddy06 have real engagement?
Its engagement rate beats 74% of the tracked X accounts closest to it in follower count (3,758 accounts), which puts it in the middle of its size range group. Ranking inside a size band matters because engagement rate falls as accounts grow, so a raw rate would mostly re-measure the follower count. It is a starting point for a look at follower quality, not a verdict on it.
When does @praddy06 post?
Most posts go out around 11:00 UTC, and Sunday is its busiest day, at roughly 1.33 posts per day across the measured window.
