#Artxiboa 🔎 #DocumentoDelMes - Agosto 2026 En septiembre de 1976, el productor Elías Querejeta comunicó por carta al entonces director del Festival, Miguel de Echarri, que retiraba la película ‘El Desencanto’ del concurso “como protesta a la brutal represión que viene padeciendo el Pueblo Vasco”. Aquella edición, la primera tras la muerte de Franco, hizo evidente la tensión entre el deseo de algunos por democratizar el Festival y la resistencia de otros por conservar una normalidad inexistente. De hecho, como si nada hubiera sucedido, la dirección del Festival programó la película y la anunció con horarios de proyección, a pesar de no disponer de la copia, como puede verse en imagen. El filme finalmente no se llegó a exhibir y De Echarri amenazó con tomar precauciones futuras contra Querejeta. Sin embargo, era evidente que el comité rector del Festival había perdido progresivamente el control y apenas unos meses después, nuevos personajes comenzarían a poblar la cúpula del certamen. En 1977, en un año lleno de transformaciones, Chávarri y Querejeta fueron galardonados en el mismo festival con el Premio Perla del Cantábrico por ‘A un Dios desconocido’.
