Lebih dari 150 ribu masyarakat hadir mengikuti rangkaian upacara Peringatan Detik-Detik Proklamasi Kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia dan Penurunan Bendera Sang Merah Putih di kawasan Istana Merdeka, serta panggung rakyat di Monas. Malam harinya, semangat yang sama terus menyala dengan kehadiran lebih dari 500 ribu warga di sepanjang Monas hingga Bundaran Hotel Indonesia. Pemandangan ini kembali mengingatkan bahwa Merah Putih bukan sekadar bendera. Ia adalah pemersatu kita. Dari berbagai daerah, latar belakang, dan generasi, kita hadir dengan satu kebanggaan yang sama: Indonesia. Dirgahayu ke-81 Republik Indonesia. Sedikit cerita.. Saat Pak Presiden mengecek langsung ke lokasi Karhutla di Desa Limbung, Kubu Raya, Kalimantan Barat. "Sehat-sehat ya Pak" "Sehat selalu Pak Presiden" Terdengar sederhana, tetapi menjadi sangat istimewa bila disampaikan oleh warganya... Itulah masyarakat Indonesia yang sesungguhnya..
